Village People - Original Painting

Village People - Original Painting

"Village People" 24" X 30" X 2"  Mixed Media on fine art paper laminated to a wood panel. Framed and ready to hang

“It takes an athlete to dance, but an artist to be a dancer.” – Shanna LeFleur

Village People playfully nods to the iconic New York disco band of the 1980s, but the artist takes an unexpected turn by relocating the scene from its urban origins to a vibrant mountain setting. The artwork presents a study in movement and form, where two dancers inhabit a space defined by intersecting planes and angular geometry. Their simplified, textured garments enhance the focus on posture and rhythm rather than detailed realism.

My mixed media paintings consist of acrylic paint and digital collage. They are painted on museum quality archival paper and then laminated to a cradled wood panel, varnished, waxed and then framed in a black floater frame. Each piece begins as a digital study on an iPad where the basic composition and coloring is determined before the hand painted original is started.
