Strategic Pause.  30" X 24" X 2"  Mixed Media on fine art paper laminated to a wood panel. Framed and ready to hang

In music, a caesura denotes a brief, silent pause, during which metrical time is not counted.

"Strategic Pause" is an invitation to reflect on those fleeting interludes in life where everything seems to stop, offering space for renewal, presence, and tranquility. This artistic endeavor embraces the beauty of quietude amidst the chaos, highlighting the significance of the pauses in our lives that allow for deeper understanding and intimacy. It is a celebration of the soft interludes that invite us to savor and cherish the connections that define our humanity, urging us to pause, reflect, and explore the symphony of silence that exists within each moment.

The vibrant visual language bridges emotions and speaks to the soul, evoking the universal power of human connection through the metaphor of a musical pause—those precious moments when all sound vanishes, and only the essence of being remains.

My mixed media paintings consist of acrylic paint and digital collage. They are painted on museum quality archival paper and then laminated to a cradled wood panel, varnished, waxed and then framed in a black floater frame. Each piece begins as a digital study on an iPad where the basic composition and coloring is determined before the hand painted original is started.
