Ramshackle Blues.  30" X 24" X 2"  Mixed Media on fine art paper laminated to a wood panel. Framed and ready to hang

...The curious beauty of the blues is that it uplifts even as it tells a sad tale. You may be poor, you may have only a ramshackle house, you may have lost your job, but the song gives you hope....

Step into a world of urban complexity and fragmented views with Ramshackle Blues. This painting, reminiscent of Cubism, presents an abstract and stylized urban landscape that captures the dynamism of a crumbling city environment.

The composition breaks down the scenery into geometric shapes and forms, using a variety of colors to create a sense of depth and complexity. The intersecting shapes suggest buildings, windows, and elements of a “slumscape”, while the use of different tones and hues adds an illusion of three-dimensionality to the flat, two-dimensional surface.

The harmonized palette of blues, reds, browns, beiges, and greys evokes different materials and textures, immersing the viewer in a world of dilapidated buildings and the soulful essence of blues music. Through the fusion of urban landscapes and the emotive power of music, this artwork serves as a reflection of the resilience and strength found in overcoming poverty through the soulful expression of blues music.

My mixed media paintings consist of acrylic paint and digital collage. They are painted on museum quality archival paper and then laminated to a cradled wood panel, varnished, waxed and then framed in a black floater frame. Each piece begins as a digital study on an iPad where the basic composition and coloring is determined before the hand painted original is started.
