Passion Play presents two figures engaged in an understated dialogue, rendered through a crisp geometric vocabulary that balances simplicity with careful detail.

The background is equally considered, featuring a framed landscape that echoes the figures’ stylization—rolling hills, trees, and buildings simplified into muted, harmonious shapes. The use of mixed media—combining acrylic, ink, and digital collage—introduces a varied texture that supports the work’s balanced rhythm without distracting from its clean, modern aesthetic.

Rooted in a theme of role playing, the piece invites viewers to consider the stories we inhabit and the personas we present, all framed within a visual style that feels both contemporary and deliberate. The geometric forms and color choices engage with tradition and innovation alike, offering a moment of stillness where narrative and abstraction coexist.

About the Artist

Frank Trocino is a retired architect turned painter currently residing in Santa Fe New Mexico. His path to Santa Fe began in New York, then to Oregon as a young child through College. From there he lived in Italy, Los Angeles, the Middle East, Portland, and Austin. Franks work can be seen in galleries, hotels, and the homes of private collectors internationally. He is a mixed media artist using acrylic paint, ink and collage and his subject matter is primarily couples and buildings.
