Homestead - Original Painting

Homestead - Original Painting

"Homestead" 24" X 30" X 2"  Mixed Media on fine art paper laminated to a wood panel. Framed and ready to hang

Drawing from the artist’s former life as an architect, the work functions as an assemblage of architectural elements, blending structural motifs with abstract forms. Black vertical shapes with curved cutouts provide a graphic counterpoint to the warmer hues, adding structure and visual tension.

The balance between these elements results in an abstracted landscape that feels both constructed and worn, hinting at human presence while maintaining an element of quiet abstraction. The work invites consideration of the intersections between natural textures and built environments, encouraging a reflective engagement with form and surface.

My mixed media paintings consist of acrylic paint and digital collage. They are painted on museum quality archival paper and then laminated to a cradled wood panel, varnished, waxed and then framed in a black floater frame. Each piece begins as a digital study on an iPad where the basic composition and coloring is determined before the hand painted original is started.
