Frank Trocino Artist

Front Range - Original Painting

Front Range - Original Painting

"Front Range" 24" X 30" X 2"  Mixed Media on fine art paper laminated to a wood panel. Framed and ready to hang

Front Range presents a carefully calibrated interplay between geometric abstraction and photographic realism, serving as an abstracted depiction of the Rockies Front Range inspired by the artist’s time living in Boulder, CO. Structured polygons and intersecting lines suggest a fragmented urban landscape shaped by the natural and built environments of the region. The composition organizes muted earth tones—blues, browns, oranges, and greens—within a grid-like framework of black angular lines, evoking architectural forms without explicit representation. Within select shapes, photographic textures of brick, wood paneling, flowering plants, and a sunset sky introduce tangible surface qualities that contrast with the otherwise flat, graphic elements.

My mixed media paintings consist of acrylic paint and digital collage. They are painted on museum quality archival paper and then laminated to a cradled wood panel, varnished, waxed and then framed in a black floater frame. Each piece begins as a digital study on an iPad where the basic composition and coloring is determined before the hand painted original is started.
