A loose (extremely loose) adaptation of Jan van Eyck’s Arnolfini Portrait. This extraordinary masterpiece (his, not mine) is steeped in mystery, symbolism and conjecture….well worth investigating.

This modern take on a timeless classic invites the viewer to explore the boundaries between representation and abstraction, unlocking a realm of artistic possibility and imagination.  “Artistic License” is not just a title – it's an invitation to explore, enjoy, and embrace the unexpected.

Obviously Inspired by the masterpiece "Arnolfini Portrait" by Flemish artist Jan van Eyck, the geometric forms and abstract patterns converge to tell a story of connection and intrigue, as two enigmatic figures, a man and a woman, engage in a dance of shapes and colors.

The stylized characters, with their angular features and intricate attire, are set against a fantastical cityscape backdrop where architecture bends and curves in harmonious unity. You can faintly see the outline of the unborn infant skillfully depicted in the woman’s smock-like attire.

The whimsical dog with exaggerated features adds a touch of playfulness to an originally sober scene, creating a sense of depth and wonder within the two-dimensional space. About the Artist

Frank Trocino is a retired architect turned painter currently residing in Santa Fe New Mexico. His path to Santa Fe began in New York, then to Oregon as a young child through College. From there he lived in Italy, Los Angeles, the Middle East, Portland, and Austin. Franks work can be seen in galleries, hotels, and the homes of private collectors internationally. He is a mixed media artist using acrylic paint, ink and collage and his subject matter is primarily couples and buildings.
