“You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzy, The way you rock and roll.” - The Beatles
“Lovely Rita, meter maid, Nothing can come between us.” - The Beatles
In "Lizzy and Rita," I investigate the silent interplay between presence and place, where two figures emerge as both guardians and mysteries within an abstract cityscape. Their angular forms and bold colors hold a quiet intensity—eyes closed or guarded, poised yet withdrawn.
The buildings behind them rise like fragmented memories, warm and shadowed, with the delicate pulse of small silhouettes tracing unseen lives below. This piece is a moment suspended, a threshold between what is revealed and what remains just out of reach. Named after characters from songs by The Beatles, it carries a subtle invitation to dwell in the space where faces meet facades and stories unfold in shadowed geometry.
This piece continues my exploration of “Faces and Facades”, a series of hand-embellished prints, where people and places mingle in whispered tension, and where each element holds a quiet enigma, waiting to be uncovered. Here the ordinary folds into the mystical, and the architectural becomes a vessel for unseen narratives, all named after characters from songs by The Beatles
The image is printed on museum quality archival paper and highlighted with acrylic paint and ink. It is then laminated to a cradled wood panel, varnished, waxed and framed in a black wood floater frame.
